How It Started-
Life was busy… covid hit… life was forced to slow down… and now as we've returned to normal we find ourselves busy again. Or was that just me? In 2020, I went from having an online business selling reclaimed wood frames that I made in my garage to remodeling an 1887 historic building for my brick and mortar boutique with an Airbnb rental above it. I loved this new stage of my business but the crazy whirlwind of events left me feeling weary at the end of the day.
When my husband, Matt, gets worn out and needs a break he always suggests going on a vacation. Traveling is great but give me a few hours to myself with a glass of pinot noir, good smelling candle, curled up with a cozy blanket and book… that’s vacation enough for me.
I’d been thinking recently that surely I wasn’t alone in feeling like that. Poll most moms and they would probably agree that they don’t need much… an hour-long stroll in Target smelling the candles, touching the throw pillows, and coming home with a cute tumbler usually does the trick am I right?
We often don’t recharge ourselves enough to truly be present and enjoy the season with their families, largely because we forget to make it a priority and because we have overloaded ourselves. We live in a Pinterest world where we feel like we have to do “all the things” and do them like they’re staged in a magazine. Really what we need is to soak up the simple things in life… the little luxuries. We don’t need an escape from our home when we’re weary, we need to make everyday moments in our home feel like an escape.
I wanted to create this box to serve as a gift to you and a reminder that it’s the little things that can make everyday feel like a special occasion. When your cup is full you can then pour over into your family. It is a creative way for me to bring my boutique to you, but I want it to be more than that.
I want it to go beyond the box and inspire you to create meaningful moments in your life and home. I want you to feel excited for the upcoming season every time you open your box. I want to focus on quality over quantity (with everything in life) and give you the reminder that you don’t need more, you need meaningful.
I hope this inspires you to make every day feel special. You don’t need a lavish vacation, but you 100% need to give yourself the gift of joyful moments. It’s your turn to slow down and reclaim your happiness.
No generic clutter here -- you can rest assured knowing that everything in the box is a high-quality, handmade good.
Even though you’re getting ‘things,’ the Reclaim Box focuses on experiencing life’s moments. That’s why we create fun and unique themes with each box, so you can always reclaim what makes you happy.
Staying present is at the forefront of what we do. By encouraging you to live mindfully, you can fully enjoy time for yourself -- even if it’s only a couple of minutes.
Hi, I’m Lindsey -- the girl behind the Reclaim Box. I was born and raised in the Flint Hills of Kansas, and I’m a Christian wife + mom of 4. I was a stay-at-home mom for 8 years but always had this creative side. I fell in love with woodworking and furniture building. That's how Weathered Wood Home got its start... with handmade wooden frames, prints, and rustic home goods, all made by me in my garage.
When it comes to my favorite little luxuries, I love picking wildflowers, browsing vintage markets, collecting cookbooks, and lighting a yummy smelling candle.
I’d way rather take a road trip than get on a plane (I'm actually not a big traveler in general- weird I know) and I’m a major foodie + Pinot Noir lover.
I can’t wait to learn more about the little moments that make you smile!
