Reflection & New Changes
I have exciting news to share with you, but first, can I talk about 2022? I know, it’s February and all that kind of talk happens in January, right? But here we go…
There were a lot of lessons learned in the past year. What I’m good at, what I’m not good at, what I like to do, and what I don’t like to do. I’m taking these lessons and “starting over” in a sense. I’m re-evaluating my goals, and what success means for me… not what I think it should look like for other people.
Here’s what I think I did well: I think I did a good job with our Airbnb this last year. That was way busier than I thought it would be and I’m very thankful for that. But it took a lot of my attention since it was such a new job for me. Because of that, I did not do a good job with communication for my store. Social media totally took a back seat and I didn’t stay on top of my inbox and messages as I should have.
Having the store has been really eye-opening for me in realizing what I like to do within my business. I love, love, LOVE creating something. I’m a maker… I have to make something of my own. I also love lifting up other makers and carrying their products in my store, but soon realized that I missed being a maker myself. After opening the store I didn’t have time to woodwork or make my frames, but I was missing my creative side. So I started painting and loved that, but decided I wanted to just keep that a fun hobby for now.
But I really wanted to make something that I could sell because…
I miss being a vendor at markets,
I miss putting together an experience when shipping my product,
and I miss having something I made in people’s homes.
I love my store, love my Airbnbs, but… I love being a maker the most.
Sooooo… I’ve been making something for you!
I’ve been studying, experimenting, testing, and perfecting a new product for you since the summer of 2022. I’ve spent sooooo many hours thinking (and overthinking) about this product. Trust me please when I say, I set my standards HIGH before putting something out there. The mad scientist and perfectionist in me haven’t been able to focus on anything else since taking on this new thing. And truth be told, I’m still not done or ready to put it out there but I’m VERY close!
This spring I’ll launch what I’ve been working on and I cannot wait to get your feedback! Because sometimes it’s as good as you can get on your own, but you need the customer to help you take it to the next level. Any guesses as to what it is??
Thanks for taking the time to read this long thing… I promise next week’s post will be a lot more uplifting and fun! Because I’ll finally get to officially let you know what’s coming! Can’t wait!!
