New resolutions, a time to reset and reevaluate, intentional actions make us the best versions of ourselves.
When coming up with this Spring's RECLAIM Box, this idea sparked magic in my soul. I set about the process of gathering items for you that would make light work of setting simple, achievable, and oh-so-very easy resolutions. Good habits that are simple, beautiful, and caring of the over-worked, over-stressed, and over-committed human that you are.
Resolution #1 : Making Time For Creativity.
What a gift creativity can be! Taking small moments to create beauty, meaning, or love genuinely nourishes the soul. I have been painting recently. A habit I struggle to find the time for. But, when I do, wow, is it sweet for the soul. In this box I am including a print of this floral I painted just for you. Printed on gorgeous handmade cotton paper, let this little print be your prompt to join me in a new creative habit. Pair it with this box's magnetic frame as a constant reminder to get creative, or tuck it into a journal or planner as visual inspiration just for yourself.
Resolution #2 : Drink More Water.
Sure, we all know water is wonderful for us. Life-giving, moisturizing, healthy, but it's also just . . . water. I have found that I am more apt to drink water when I make it just a bit more special. The pink hibiscus tea included in our Spring RECLAIM : Resolutions Box is the perfect trick! The recipe included in the box gives you the flavor-kick you need to drink, drink, drink. Make a pitcher, chill, and enjoy. Plus, you get the added benefits of honey, raspberries, and citrus. Your body will thank you.
Resolution #3 : Rest, Real Rest.
Sleep is a beautiful thing. But, if you are like me, finding ways to calm my mind can be a challenge. Luckily, I found this lavender mist, and it has the soft, soothing fragrance that triggers a restful night's sleep. Never overwhelming, perfectly scented, and just right when sprayed on your pillowcase or a light mist on your face. Make letting go of the stress of your day-to-day just a little easier in 2022.
Resolution #4 : Organize Your Weekly Goals.
This resolution is a practice, not a product. You can do it all, but you cannot do it all at once. Take a moment at the beginning of your week to define your goals. Then, determine three goals for yourself each day. By doing this, you will accomplish it all and banish the feelings of overwhelm and being behind . . . because those feelings are so 2021. This has been a game-changer for me, and I hope it helps you too.
Resolution #5 : Less and Less Screen-Time.
Yes, I give myself the same advice I give my kids, and now I am giving it to you. Set a timer for how long you'll be in front of your screens. Accomplish that work, catch up on social media, text your friends and loved ones, and then disconnect. These blue-light blocking glasses help me ease the screen-time strain while also serving as an intentional reminder that once they are off, so am I.
Resolution #6 : You are Deserving of Self-Care.
Let me repeat that — YOU are deserving of self-care. This incredibly refreshing sugar scrub by Aria Rose Bath Co. is not only exfoliating but also turns into lotion in the shower. Eight ounces of eucalyptus mint decadence turns your shower into a mini-spa. Mindfully and intentionally use this creamy scrub daily and remember your worth. You do so much for everyone else. In 2022, it's time to take time for yourself.
Our RECLAIM : Resolutions Box is ready and waiting for you. Consider this the permission you may need to gift yourself better habits and more love in 2022.

It’s all sooo hard. The holidays this year have me craving “easy”.
“Easy” is not Pinterest-level holiday perfection. Oh, no!
Those soft, simple moments, surrounded by warmth, love, yummy smells, and those we adore. That’s “the easy” I’m talking about. Our RECLAIM : Traditions Box is based on this vibe.
From the warm, fuzzy socks to the candle warmer with wax melts that smell like Christmas perfection — we are leaning heavy into these easy ways to spark traditions. After all, ladies, you spent 2021 making magic all year long. You deserve a merry & bright Christmas more than ever.
I want to give a little bit of that magic back to you this holiday, so I curated a playlist just for you. Merry Christmas, my loves!
This playlist, found on Amazon Music, features 50 of my favorite Christmas tunes. Just snap the QR code found below and start streaming. Easy, right?!
In a world full of hard, I hope this small gesture reminds you just how strong, loved, and deserving of easy you are.
Tell me . . . what is your very favorite Christmas song? Is it on this playlist? What songs should I add next year? I hope you are finding moments in this busy season to breathe in easy delight and exhale the hard. Merry Christmas to all and to all an easy night. ❤️
]]>Our family savors the tastes, smells, and all the feels of Thanksgiving, so we usually wait until after the pumpkin pie has been eaten to break out the Christmas decor . . . music . . . and candles . . . and lights . . . and . . .
Retail, however, that’s a whole different story! Big box stores or little box, like us, are all about preparing for what our customers need next. And, I kind of get the retail rush better now. I’m not endorsing Christmas on the shelves of Weathered Wood Home in August. Oh, no. That’s a hard pass. But, my customers deserve a jump start. To know that everything they need, and everything they want, for the coming season, is on our display tables, or hanging from our branches, as the case may be.
The perfect mug for your mother-in-law — check!
The prettiest ornament for your child’s teacher — check!
A new charcuterie board for those holiday hosting moments — check!
A soft, sweet, sweater for your niece — check!
A candle for that neighbor that goes out of her way for you all year long — check!
I want Weathered Wood Home (the shop and the .com) to be a place where you can come for inspiration and long, lingering shopping moments. But, also that trusted place you can simply dash into, because you know that the perfect gift/piece/object is there, at the ready, when YOU need it.
So, while it’s been a holiday-fest in the shop for almost a month now… at home, it’s almost time for me to whisper goodbye to my autumnal decor, and enthusiastically embrace the Forge-Christmas wonderland!
The retail world is catering to our desire to be prepared, but don’t let that rush you. Light your pumpkin candle one more time. Snuggle in under your plush, plaid throw blanket tonight. And, give those pumpkins and gourds, with their lush, deepening hues, a few last glances. Christmas and all its lovely trimmings are coming, no matter what. Autumn is fleeting, but still oh-so-very sweet. Take the next days to truly savor these last moments.
When you’re ready, I’ll be here, with cute Christmas ornaments, adorable hostess gifts, and all the perfect mugs just waiting to be the next-best gift someone in your life has ever received.
When do you decorate for Christmas? Is your style to have that Christmas tree up when serving your Thanksgiving meal? Does the house look festive on December 1st, but not a day earlier? Talk to me in the comments. I’m curious to learn how other people handle the crossover period that Thanksgiving and Christmas have become.
Until next time, I’m wishing you warm, amber-hued evenings or lovely, crisp winter nights, whichever mode works for you right now.
]]>Our insiders have placed their orders, but there is a limited supply of RECLAIM : Tradition boxes still available — thank goodness we ordered a bit deeper this time around!
In the process of creating and distributing these boxes, that I put so much love into curating for you, now is my favorite moment . . . the reveal of what’s inside! Let’s get to it! I’m so excited, can you tell???
North 40 Photography Christmas Print :
This photo of a red barn covered in snow captured my country-heart. We can think of a million uses for this image in our home . . . to bring the feel of winter magic inside. But, tucking it into a card as a sweet gift, or using the frame included in our last box, gives us all the warm feels too.
Air Mail Mini Market Tote :
We have a tradition with our kids called “Santa Sacks.” Every year the kids grab their sacks and fill them with toys and books they’d like to donate. They set their sacks on the porch for the elves to pick up, and in return, the elves fill them with their yearly Christmas pajamas. We love that this tote could serve as their “Santa Sacks.” It’s such a simple tradition, but it gives our family so much joy and meaning.
You know I’m not going to leave you with just one idea for this sweet tote, though. When purchasing it, I imagined filling them with wrapped Christmas books to open up and read each night. Or, use it to carry food, wine, and little gifts to holiday events and parties. It’s also a lovely way to store all of those wonderful Christmas ornaments/decorations/wrapping supplies/goodies, making it usable 365 days a year!
Fuzzy Socks :
I love fuzzy socks! I mean, who doesn’t?
Every year I get a new pair of thick, fuzzy socks with festive prints on them because my feet are constantly cold. Traditionally, I tend to be the one to decorate the house for Christmas, but I let Matt and the kids decorate our tree. I always look forward to putting on my cozy, fuzzy socks, pouring a glass of wine, and kicking my feet up, while I watch them enjoy the process of decorating the tree. And, the rest of my winter days are spent tucking into those cozy socks, and cherishing the memories made while wearing them.
Gourmet Popcorn :
Do you remember buying or receiving those big tins of popcorn every Christmas? Taste is such an important part of memory-making, and I love “reclaiming this tradition” with my own children.
The flavors of peppermint and hot chocolate make it the perfect Christmas treat for munching on while enjoying your favorite Christmas movie. We’re Team : It’s a Wonderful Life in my household. And every Christmas Eve we watch The Polar Express… the bell still rings for me! How about you?
Peppermint and hot chocolate-flavored popcorn with bits of marshmallow is surely the perfect Christmas treat. We’ll be packing up some of this as we take a ride on Council Grove’s trolley to marvel at the light displays of our homes and businesses. Isn’t our small town the coolest?
2-in-1 Candle Warmer :
I love the flame of a candle, don’t you? But, sometimes it’s best to use a wax warmer if you’re wanting your home to have a constant aroma to it. This warmer is great because you can use it to melt the last bit of wax from the candle in our previous Reclaim : Crisp Autumn Days box, or the wax melts we are including in this season’s box. Keep reading, because, oh my, this box’s wax melts smell ah-maz-ing!
A candle warmer is a great, safe option to make your home smell like Christmas, but more pet and kid-friendly than the open flame of a candle.
Magnolia May Candle Company Wax Melts (Set / 2) :
These wax melts were lovingly made by my friend, Megan, from Magnolia May Candle Company. Her candles and wax melts are simply incredible, and I love supporting her small business.
Scent 1: “Joy” is the joyful feeling of wandering through a Christmas tree farm with family, searching for the perfect tree, and gathering around its branches all season long. With top notes of balsam fir and jasmine, middle notes of cedar, and base notes of warm clove, this fragrance will remind you of the delight of simple holiday traditions and the beloved scent of a freshly cut tree.
Scent 2 : “Winter Cottage” is a nostalgic scent that will stir up your warmest, most wonderful winter memories: baking cookies, hot chocolate, wrapping gifts, snuggling by the fire, decorating the tree. If a Hallmark Christmas movie was a candle, this would be it! With top notes of mulled citrus and blue spruce, middle notes of cinnamon sugar, and base notes of cedar, lighting this candle makes it feel as if Christmas has finally arrived.
Her scent descriptions are perfection, right? I can almost smell them now.
I love the tradition of getting a fresh-cut Christmas tree every year. That’s not an option for everyone, though. However, these wax melts are.
Thank you for sticking with this longer-than-usual post. I hope you are as thrilled and excited as I am. Not only for your RECLAIM : Tradition box, but also for the coming holiday season. Please share with us, in the comments, your memories, and traditions that you hope to reclaim this year. Are they similar to ours? Completely different?
From our Weathered Wood Home to yours . . . Merry Christmas!
]]>When I launched my RECLAIM Boxes, I had simplicity in mind. A box that you could grab on a whim and enjoy when you needed that certain pick-me-up in your day-to-day routine. What I didn’t take into account is the love with which you all responded! I. Am. Blown. Away.
I am grateful and proud of the reception you gave the RECLAIM : Crisp Autumn Days Box. Like, so much gratitude. I want this to be a spectacular gift that you can give yourself or a friend that you love, on your terms. That’s why I decided to now give you three ways to purchase — you pick what works for you! While you do that, I’ll be over here picking the items that I hope will continue to spark joy and warmth in your heart.
Buying option #1 : (NEW!) Subscribe. This option gives you a guaranteed box each and every season. A subscription to our RECLAIM Box gives you your own access to our subscriber portal. This little bonus makes augmenting your box easy as pie! Additionally, we use this portal to offer up the occasional discount and special buy. Are you excited over this option? Because we sure are!
Of course, we want this to be a long-term relationship, but we understand how life goes, so you can pause or cancel your subscription anytime with the click of a button.
Buying option #2 : Join our Insider List. This is for our easy/breezy, low commitment friends. Friend, I get you. As an insider, you'll get the first option (24 hour head start to be exact) to purchase a one-time-buy box! It's the same Reclaim Box that subscribers get but without the subscription- buy as many as you'd like! BUT with the limited quantity you would want to act fast because when they're gone, they're gone!
Buying option #3 : Take a chance on our online store. Where are my no commitment friends? I see you — you risk-takers! A periodic pop-over to our website may give you a chance to snag a remaining box for you or a friend. Hey, you never know — it could happen! And, you might get that oh-so-fun, “I just won the lottery” kind of feeling!
The beauty that comes with boutique ownership is that I get to dive deeper into a world of gorgeous goods and into the creation of incredible products and spaces. Plus, I have the honor of constantly making our systems work better for you. I'm incredibly blessed!
Our RECLAIM Boxes may be blissfully one size fits all, but thankfully now, how you purchase them is not.
Tell me how you will get your RECLAIM : Tradition Box. Will you subscribe a sister or a friend for the ultimate Christmas gift? Or will you join our Insider's List to snag a one-time-buy?
We have all spent entire holiday seasons whipping our spaces into Christmas wonderlands and over-planning our festive parties, in order to create the most idyllic holiday memories for our friends and families. Who here hasn’t attempted to make the perfect handheld appetizers, the most lovely of cocktails, and grab just the right photo with Santa? And, who here hasn’t looked back with a sigh, and realized that the best moments — those most sweetly reflected on — were the traditions based in simplicity. The traditions that occurred almost organically, year after year.
These are the traditions worthy of reclamation.
Through this box, that is just what we will do. Six items, lovingly curated and personally enjoyed by myself and my family,, that are designed to spark a new joy in the recreation of old traditions!
Our Winter 2021 RECLAIM : Tradition Box welcomes that deeply soothing desire to go back to those moments. This box is our very first holiday-infused box! Making it all the more special to us. Our first chance to bring you the items that we believe will become new favorites in your household, just as they have become in ours.
It is my Christmas wish that you are inspired to feel this holiday season a bit more deeply, a bit more connected, and with a bit more whimsy.
In 2020 all of us received a gift . . . let’s all just call it “a gift.” The gift of living through a global pandemic, and realizing how much we can create within the walls of our very own homes. We let go of the Pinterest-perfect ideals, and embraced the quality moments that mean the most to us.
This Christmas season we are working towards stripping away the insta-worthy standard and focusing on the sweet and meaningful.
Of course, denying this impulse is hard at times. Enjoying the moment in 2021 is hard!
Missing the perfect picture at the Christmas tree farm, because you stayed present during the hunt is hard. Letting the kids do the cookie decorating instead of you is hard. Buying a pre-made pie crust because you indulged in an extra Christmas movie — that’s hard!
Let’s all take a breath and agree that it’s time to pull out those Christmas memories from our own childhoods, and continue the work of building warm traditions upon them.
We plan on sipping wine by the Christmas tree while wearing the perfect fuzzy socks, reading our favorite childhood Christmas books to our own kids, and taking the time to thoughtfully decorate our tree while telling the stories of our ornaments’ pasts.
Check back with us here on November 8th for our big launch!
As our insiders already know, we’ve recently pivoted our direction with these boxes. We are now offering the RECLAIM Box as a quarterly subscription box. This helps us with planning, buying, and availability. We want to ensure that all our friends are able to get their box, and have the opportunity to purchase items from our coordinating mini-market so that you can accentuate the details our RECLAIM : Tradition Subscription Box brings.
Subscribing and becoming a VIP member are the most effective ways to stay current with us — after all, our first box sold out in just 8 hours! Can you even believe that?
Until next time, I want to know what your sweet, simple traditions are. What memories comfort you every Christmas season? And, who will you share the joy of the RECLAIM : Tradition Box with? Because, you know, this meaningful subscription box is the perfect gift for you and a friend.
You won't want to miss out on snagging this box- so mark your calendar for Monday, November 8th at 8:00 am (CST) to subscribe!
-Lindsey
]]>UPDATE: We have made the Reclaim Box into a quarterly subscription! Now you won't have to worry about missing out on some happy mail!
I am so excited to finally reveal the big news!
We're launching a seasonal gift box and they'll be listed September 8th!! We'll also have a Mini Market that will be listed on our website that compliments each box (more info about that at the bottom).
This is something I've wanted to do before even opening my brick & mortar boutique, but I didn't know exactly how to make it happen. Flash forward almost 2 years, and I've put together a fun way to bring my boutique to you.
It's called The Reclaim Box and its a quarterly surprise gift to yourself (or a friend!) that prioritizes handmade, quality goods as well as introducing you to other small businesses and makers.
I wanted to create this box to serve as a gift to you and a reminder that it’s the little things that can make every day feel like a special occasion. When your cup is full you can then pour over into your family. It is a creative way for me to bring my boutique to you, but I want it to be more than that.
I want it to go beyond the box and inspire you to create meaningful moments in your life and home. I want you to feel excited for the upcoming season every time you open your box. I want to focus on quality over quantity (with everything in life) and give you the reminder that you don’t need more, you need meaningful.
Here are the details-
That first crisp Autumn day invigorates us in the morning with its fresh new start and then calms us in the evening with the coziness we feel inside. The items in this box capture all the Fall feels and inspire you to make the most of the cozy season.
(I'll let you in on 2 of the items though included in this first box- a Weathered Wood Home reclaimed wood frame and print! Since my frames are so limited I wanted to make sure everyone who got this first box would get a frame. So if you haven't been able to snag one yet, here's your chance!)
What makes the Reclaim Box unique?
First and foremost, I never want to offer you pieces that aren't functional. The point of this box is to use the items in your everyday life to make the season feel more special.
Our Mini Market-
Each week we'll list different items in our Mini-Market that will compliment our box's theme. It's a fun way to shop if surprise boxes aren't your thing :)
And you know there will be unique, found items listed because I love small-batch, specialized pieces.
The Makers-
I want the emphasis to be on supporting other makers and small businesses from the U.S. so each box will highlight one artisan in particular along with their item.
Beyond the Box-
The fun doesn't stop once you get your box. On our blog we'll post weekly fun and inspirational ideas on how you can use your items and make the most of the theme.
You might still be having lots of questions so I created a FAQ page you can check out with more detailed info! If you still have questions though please feel free to email me and ask away!
I hope this inspires you to make every day feel special.

When was the last time you truly slowed down and took a moment to be present with either yourself or someone you love?
If you’re still thinking -- just know that you’re not alone.
Tell me if you can relate to this...
life was busy… covid hit… life was forced to slow down… and now as we return to normal we find ourselves busy again.
Or was that just me?? In 2020, I went from having an online business selling reclaimed wood frames that I made in my garage to remodeling an 1887 historic building for my brick and mortar boutique with an Airbnb rental above it. I love this new stage of my business but the crazy whirlwind of events has left me feeling weary and re-evaluating what's most important in life.
With our hectic and busy schedules, we prioritize productivity, efficiency, and having it all together. Then we lose sight of connection, mindfulness, and experiencing the moment.
And these moments don’t have to be big and grand. The small moments with little luxuries bring the most to my day.
I've found that the key to slowing down is to savor the simple things in life…
we don’t need an escape from our home when we’re weary, we need to make everyday moments in our home feel like an escape.
So I'm creating something new for you.
I've wanted to offer something as both a gift to you and a reminder that it’s the little things that can make everyday feel like a special occasion. When your cup is full you can then pour over into your family.
It will also be a creative way for me to bring my boutique to you, but I truly want it to be more than that. I want it to:
These are just hints of what's to come-- next week I'll reveal what I've been putting together for you and it will be launching September 8th.
I really hope you love it as much as I've loved planning it for you :)
]]>This will (without a doubt) be the best, most beautiful collection I'll ever have with my reclaimed wood frames! I had the idea a few months ago to create a floating frame with my chippy white pieces of barn wood... but I wanted the focus to be on what would be framed. I wanted to offer a true piece of art. I love hand-lettering and word art, but this particular frame needed something painted inside. But.... I can't paint. Fortunately for me I knew someone who could...
Enter Haley Young. A super cool, beautiful, sweet, and crazy-talented girl I went to church with. God gave her the gift of painting (among many other gifts) and her art was what these frames needed. What is crazy to me is that she doesn't realize how amazing her paintings are. My hope with this collection is that
1. You would have the opportunity to add something truly original and one-of-a-kind to your home
2. That this collection would give Haley the much deserved boost to her business.
I remember when I was at the beginning stage of my creative business and it was SO scary putting myself out there for all to judge. What if no one loved what I loved? What if people hated what I created? What if the discouragement buried what I was so passionate about? Thankfully, I found the most kind customers-turned-friends in the world and I hope that for Haley as well. I want her to have the same feeling I had knowing what I created was treasured in someone's home miles, states, even countries away from me. It's an indescribable feeling.
This collection is launching Wednesday, June 30th at 8:00 PM (Central Time) and it is very limited! Because Haley is an artist and these are not copies or prints, she can only crank out so many while keeping the quality. I hope you love this collaboration as much as I do! Thank you in advance for supporting my friend and our creative businesses!
-Lindsey

So I've been able to give you a little background about my business journey HERE and have showed you my new "old" workshop HERE, but now I want to share with you why all of this is exciting for you!
This building is set up perfectly to be a workshop and shipping space for my business, but it also has an area in the front that would be amazing for a boutique! I'm so excited to let you in on my plans for a future retail space and bring you along in the journey as I expand in my business.
What I really want for the front retail space is for everyone to feel the comfort of home when they come through the door. I want it to be a shopping experience where it feels cozy and comforting. I want it to reflect my personal values of quality over quantity, meaningful over more. I want the products to be from other makers and small shops from across the United States who I've personally worked with and love. If you can find it in a big-box store, sorry it won't be in mine. I want a strong appreciation and emphasis to be on supporting our American made shops and I want highlight those makers and their stories. I want to share their talents and support their small business just as other's have supported mine. I want you to feel excited for fall as you walk in and smell a pumpkin candle burning. I want you to feel nostalgic in December when you see all the lights in the window and hear the Christmas music. During the spring I want to have flower boxes out front full of fresh greenery and I would love to have live music during the summer. While I love the convenience that my online shop offers, I want my brick and mortar shop to make you feel happy.
I also want it to be a go-to place to find vintage treasures! I will always for searching for my personal favorites and then displaying them for you in ways that will show you how you can use them in your home. I plan to display some pieces of furniture that I could make for anyone wanting a custom piece for their home. So whether you're wanting a large dining room table or a candle, Weathered Wood Home will be a place where you can find a quality piece while having an enjoyable shopping experience. My dream would be that I could play a role in drawing people in from out-of-town. Our small quaint town has so much to offer visitors! I'm going to write a whole other post all about what one can find here to do in the Flint Hills because there's SO much but it's a hidden and unknown gem to most people.
And if you live in another state or country and can't make the trip to physically see the store, no worries! I'm going to bring the store to you! I'll be listing what I offer in the store online as well so everyone can truly be a part of supporting this new and fun adventure!
Truly if it weren't for you, I wouldn't be able to make this little dream of mine come true. So thank you always for all your support! Just by reading this post you are supporting my business and family and it means the world to me!
Antiques and vintage finds are so special because they come with a story. They have history and show character that's been developed over time. Every story has wear and tear and imperfection on display. It's those details that I treasure and the story that draws me in.
I considered building a new workshop to work out of. But you know me, I'm passionate about reclaiming, repurposing, and renewing something. So when I walked into this old building I knew it would be my ultimate antique find. It would be the largest and best piece of history I would get to breathe new life in. Of course it looked rough, it had been through a lot! I was told many people had looked at it and passed it by, which I understand completely!
Not everyone can either 1. see the potential or 2. are willing to do the work. I'm not saying this in a bragging way at all, but I can do both of those things... it's actually exactly what I do with my signs. While others have looked at old wood scraps and saw a burn pile, I saw a unique piece of art for someone's home. While others have possibly had that same vision, they may have soon found out that it's a LOT more work to bring something back to life than it is to simply purchase something new. But there is a reward you get it that's indescribable when breathe new life into something left for dead. The feeling I get when I make my frames is now on steroids with the old building.
The building was built in 1887... so it's OLD! I'm excited to find out all I can about it's history, but here's a bit of what I know now about it. At some point it belonged to Mrs. J.J. Crowley and I can't wait to know more about this boss lady. To think that my building was owned and run by a woman from the beginning is AMAZING!!!! That so far is the coolest part of this building to me! Once I find out more information about her I will let you know!
It's been through many other businesses since then. I've heard some stories of under-ground gambling taking place and we've even found hidden vanilla extract bottles under the floor where bootleggers were concealing and hiding their liquor. Oh if those walls could talk right?!
I feel so blessed to now be a part of this building's history and I hope I do it justice. I really want to bring out it's original beauty and uncover what's been hidden for so long. I have exciting plans for this new "old" building and you can read all about them in this blog post HERE. Thank you for coming along with me in this journey!
(Matt and I with the previous owners, Bod and Christy Alexander with Alexander Artworks after we closed on the building)
Well friend, I'm still pinching myself as I write this... I have such exciting news to tell you!!
Weathered Wood Home will soon be a brick and mortar store!!
I've taken a leap (a giant leap during uncertain times... no pressure right?!) and am finally getting my very own workshop with a space for you to shop with me in person!! There's so much to tell you so I want to break this down easily: just a little background story about the growth of Weathered Wood Home, more information about the new space and the history of it, and what the plans are going forward.
Let me begin by saying, it's amazing how God's timing works! You can read this post here to see how I got started with my passion, but now let me tell you how my passion became my hobby turned business. It was 2013 and I was pregnant with Jace. I had been building a few pieces of furniture for my home and others were starting to notice my new hobby. A lady in our town was putting together a vintage market and asked if I wanted to be a vendor. Even though I was in my beginning trimester and not feeling well at all I signed up and started brainstorming what I was put in my space for the event. I wanted to build a few pieces of furniture and set up the space to look like a staged room. I made some smaller crafts to fill in and ironically I remember hating making the signs. I called my little booth "L Interiors". It was so much fun to see my plan and vision come to life. And to make the experience even better, I sold almost everything I made (even my backdrop!)
I remember loving the experience so much that I started to brainstorm about having a booth in the antique shop in our town. Once that idea was planted in my head, it never really left. I wanted so badly to have my furniture displayed and sold in town, I even looked into buying a store before I had a business, or a plan, or customers... and those things are a little important ;)
Realizing that I was "jumping the gun", I backed off from that idea and decided my little space needed to be on the internet. It would be a good area to start and grow because I could learn, tweak, and perfect my business with little risk plus I could find and reach people from all over the country or even the world who would love what I could offer. So Weathered Wood Home was born on the web.
I remember those beginning times working in my garage. I put every workbench on wheels because the only way I had enough space was to pull my car out and wheel my benches around to give me enough room. I remember having anxiety every time a storm would come because my nice car was parked outside vulnerable to hail damage while my old wood pile remained in the garage safe and sound. I loved working out there in the spring, summer, and fall... but winters were cold. And I wanted to be able to actually use my garage to park my car in when it was snowing.
So I moved my "shop" to a wall in my husband's shop building where it was heated and I had more space. I loved it even though it still wasn't ideal. I had to carry all my signs back to my house to photograph, store them in our basement, and then carry them back upstairs to ship out of my kitchen. And I forgot to mention that my husband works on his equipment during the winter so while in his shop I got to breathe in diesel and manure fumes.
I was saving every penny I earned to have my own workshop. While looking into a building in town to use a workspace, Covid-19 hit and I was left trying to decide whether or not to move forward with my plans. The timing wouldn't seem to make sense to most people, it still doesn't make sense to me either. But I know that I need to take this opportunity to grow and so here we are!
And this new workspace couldn't fit my style any better! It's got the history and character that I cherish and I love how I've been able to reclaim, repurpose, and renew it. I already feel at home there and can't wait to show you what it looks like in this blog post here!

I have HUGE news for you!!! On September 21st, everything is about to change with my signs! I'm keeping what makes them beautiful and unique but making them even more custom, personal, and versatile for you! There will now be 3 ways you can shop my signs: a frame, a print, or both!
Here's what you can expect...
1. You can purchase a frame!!
Don't worry, the reclaimed wood FRAMES aren't going anywhere! After all my business name is Weathered Wood Home. But they'll be just that... frames!! That's right, I'm finally offering frames and my sign designs separately!
The frames are still made from the chippy white barn wood, reclaimed bead board, vintage trim and any unique and authentically old wood I can find. Each frame will come with a sawtooth hanger that you can choose where to place depending on if you want your frame to be a vertical or horizontal orientation.
While the frames will not come with glass, they will come with a sturdy backing board to hold prints, photos, or artwork in. Of course you can add glass if you want! And you can also always swap out that backing board with an easel back if you want your frame to stand up instead of being hung on a wall. You can make your frames pop even more by adding a matte border. So what will you put in your frame?! A photo, artwork, or my signs... so many options friends!!
I'll be restocking my frames every month just like I did previously with my signs. Since each one is one-of-kind, I only photograph and list frames that I already have made for the month and are ready to ship to you! That way what you see is exactly what you get and no long waits for receiving your happy mail!
First frame restock will be Monday evening, September 21st at 8:00 pm Central Time!
2. You can purchase a print!!
My sign designs will no longer be painted on wood; they will instead now be offered on handmade cotton paper! And they'll be made to order, so you'll always be able to get the exact design you want!
This is not your regular copy paper... this is thick, textured handmade paper with beautiful deckled edges. And when the paper is in my frame you cannot tell the difference from the previous wood signs at all!
The rustic edging compliments the weathered frames because they're both perfectly imperfect and each one is unique giving them so much character and interest! You can honestly display these prints alone without a frame just as beautifully.
The paper is archival, meaning it won't yellow over time and each design is printed with high-quality ink. The designs will really show off the texture of my hand-lettered designs and now allow me to offer you custom and semi-custom designs!
3. We can work with you to create a custom piece!
We can get creative with colors, art prints, and personalization which will make your print completely unique to you! This will also make your gift-giving game off the charts! Here's just a couple ides for you...
... and I honestly have sooooo many more ideas that I'd love to share with you!
I'll have some pre-made "semi-custom" templates for you to choose from too if you want a personal piece but don't have the time for a custom design!
I hope you love these new changes that make my signs truly unique for YOU! I wanted you to have pieces that are meaningful for your home. I know you love all the chippy goodness of the frames, now you can really make them your own!
It makes me smile so much knowing that photos of your family could be in these frames. I love that I can now make any quote or design you'd like. It means so much to think that you might frame your kid's artwork or a family recipe in them. I can just picture a gallery wall of these frames in your home!
Just thinking of all the endless possibilities in which you'll make these frames and signs your own brings me so much joy.
Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your home and help create a meaningful space for you and your family!
-Lindsey
Our homes are personal to us, so of course, we put a lot of care and attention into how we want it to not only look but feel. This is not a post about styling tips or a certain home trend that will make your house feel cozy.
This is about how to create that feeling of home no matter what your style is. Here are my top three suggestions-- but first-- let me tell you a story about my journey with meaningful home decor...
I remember feeling so excited on my first day of 5th grade because I was going to have a locker! My own personal space... I was officially old in my mind. Oh, the pride I felt in getting it organized! Setting my shelf up so my books and backpack would be separated and adding a magnetic mirror to the door along with cut-out pictures of Devon Sawa from Teen Magazine. My favorite part though, taping up photos of me with my friends and family. That made it personal. I created my own mini haven in that locker. It was a reflection of me and what I liked at the time. And it was the first thing I ever had complete control over to reflect and express my style (in which I had ZERO of in 5th grade).
Fast forward many moons... I'm a freshman at Kansas State University and moving into the dorms. I have my own desk area and part of a closet. I do the same thing that I did with my 5th-grade locker (minus the Devon Sawa photos... I had upgraded to Brad Pitt and Mark Wahlberg photos by this point in time). I wanted that little area of mine to feel like me, and I wanted to feel a sense of home within it. So once again, my favorite part of making my space feel like home was having photos of me with friends and family on my desk.
A few years later, I'm married, have a baby, and am moving into an apartment with Matt. Moving into my first "adult" home with my family was one of the best years of my life. This was the first time I would get to make an actual house my home and I.was.giddy! Oh, how I fell in love with that process! But I will say it was a process that came with some trial and error! After all, how are you supposed to know what your style is exactly if the only decorating you've ever done was a locker, dorm, and sorority room???
I had absolutely NO idea what on earth I was doing. I remember Matt and I going to shop for home decor for the first time at Gordmans... yes Gordmans, and yes it all ended up in a garage sale years later. We didn't have the patience to wait and fill our place with quality items. So we loaded (and I mean loaded) our cart with so much crap. But I was so happy that our walls were no longer bare! Even if the older me now would have the chance to tell the younger Lindsey to wait and carefully curate the space, I don't think I would. Just because I remember how happy I felt buying all that stuff for our first place.
A year later though, I was feeling the pressure. We were going to build a house! But I still had no style and had no clue how to decorate. I didn't want to fill our new home with our first round of junk (and trust me after a year, it was literal junk... those types of decor pieces are not made to last. I remember asking my mother-in-law, who had great taste in decorating-
How to pick things out for our home?
How to know what our style is?
What goes good together?
Most of us can't afford an interior decorator, but we want to look like we know what we're doing am I right?? Her advice was this... "if you focus on what you like, it will all come together".
I remember thinking "hmmmm good advice... but wait... I don't know what I like!!!"
Well here's what I've learned since then and here's my advice to you when it comes to decorating your home. Do these three things first (in order to make your house feel like home) while you take the time figuring out what you like as far as home decor and style...
1. First, focus on the people, moments, and memories that have made you the happiest in your life through photos. This is NOT about decorating with professional family portraits. I'm talking about filling frames of all sizes with candid, real-life photos that make you remember a certain moment in life that makes your heart smile. A photo that when you look at it, you'll travel back in time to that memory and feel it all over again. Those are my favorite photos to display and guess what... you can't go wrong when decorating with photos! It's your life on display!
photo credit: https://www.instagram.com/forestsfarmhouse/ ; ordered weathered wood home sign for gallery wall of photos
2. Next, when it comes it comes to art, choose pieces that tell a story about you. For example, I love wildflowers. I love picking wildflowers so much because they're rustic, underrated, and free! When I think of wildflowers, I think of my family hoping in the side-by-side and country cruising in the springtime. I would shout out "flowers!" and Matt would have to stop while I filled up my mason jar with wild daisies. Everything about wildflowers just makes me happy. So if I were to choose a painting for my home, I would choose one with wildflowers. I also love old barns, so I would look for paintings of that. Bonus points if it's a painting done by a loved one or a creative small business owner!
3. Finally, choose quotes or verses that make you feel something and display them as word art for your home! Not that there's anything bad with a sign that just says "Kitchen" (I have one that just says "Mudroom" in our mudroom), but let's try to go deeper and choose something that really shows your soul a bit more such as "By wisdom a house is built and through understanding it is established; through knowledge it's rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures- Proverbs 24:3".

So that's my basic, starting-out, foundational advice for decorating your home.
You can always get into the details of how to display your home decor, what style elements resonate with you, etc. etc. as you grow and experiment and live in the space.
But as long as your focus is reflecting the story of you and your family's life... you can't go wrong!
You want people to look at the photos of your kids at the pumpkin patch and say "awww that looks like a fun tradition" and then you can tell them the story of how every year you visit the pumpkin patch and then watch It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown when you get home. You want people to look at the painting of city lights on your wall so you can tell them that it reminds you of the anniversary trip your husband and you took to Chicago. You want people to read the sign "Unending love, amazing grace" you have hanging up so you can tell them that no matter how crazy the day gets there's always that reminder of the grace that God gives us.
It's all about showing and telling your story. Start there friend and then I promise you'll find your style and make your house a home.
Here's a quote very similar to the advice my mother-in-law gave me-
"If you love something, it will work. That's the only real rule" - Bunny Williams
Here is some more GREAT advice that friends of mine on Instagram suggested about meaningful home decor:
Vintage style is NOT just for the home; it's a way of life! Our NEW Lifestyle Line reflects your laid-back style and is perfect to wear while out junkin' or shopping vintage markets. Casual-cute, comfortable, simple but significant style with distressed details that show off your love for the perfectly imperfect. Click HERE to shop the new collection!
Tell me if you do this too...
Whenever my friends and I are getting together we will always ask each other "what are you going to wear??" I guess that's our way of making sure we're staying current in our fashion while dressing the part with where we're going.
I've wanted to create this Lifestyle Line for quite awhile now because:
1. I have a feeling you are much like me and would share a similar laid-back style.
2. I wanted to help you out with what I would recommend wearing while out shopping vintage markets or junkin!
So pretend we're going shopping together at Vintage Market Days and you're calling me up asking me "Lindsey, what should I wear??"
This is what I would tell you...
I've noticed there is a certain "casual-cute" way of dressing when shopping vintage markets. First and foremost, when you're shopping markets you are prioritizing comfort. The market is likely outside and you would be doing lots of walking, so you don't want to get overly dressed up.
At the same time though, shopping at a market is an event! You've been looking forward to it for awhile and you're likely making it a girls-day-out with your friends. It's such a fun shopping experience so you want to look and feel your best while you're there!
So you need to find a middle ground of feeling cute while being comfortable.
If you're going to be shopping spring or fall markets, I would recommend wearing jeans and a cute jacket. You can always ditch your jacket if it gets too warm, but it makes for a cute layering piece and keeps you warm in the earlier part of the day if it's chilly. Throw on your chippy white t-shirt because it looks so cute with your jeans and since it's a fitted jersey fabric it won't feel bulky under your jacket. Since it's incredibly soft you'll feel comfortable in it all day. And if you're planning on grabbing lots of items while out shopping, you may opt for wearing your chippy white t-shirt in the gray color just so you feel more at ease if it gets dirty. If you're up for wearing a low-heel bootie then go for it! If you want to wear a more comfortable shoe your chippy white t-shirt will look perfect with tennis shoes too!
If it's going to be hot, rainy, or windy I have the perfect suggestion for you... wear your distressed vintage hat! Then you can feel comfortable knowing you look cute while avoiding a hair frizzing disaster. It's also the perfect hat to throw on while out gardening, at the lake or pool, grocery shopping, at a ball game... honestly where can't you wear this cute hat?!
Well, I guess you wouldn't wear it to church...
BUT here's what you could wear...
Our 'Reclaimed' wood bar necklace is perfect for dressing up just as much as it is for looking casual. The word 'reclaimed' can mean so much and it'll be different for each person.
You might love the word because it shows your love for all things reclaimed and rustic.
Or you might love how the word reminds you of your faith and how Jesus reclaimed you when he died and rose again. What a great way to share your faith with someone when they ask what your necklace says!
Or (since the necklace is reversible) you might prefer showing the blank side of the reclaimed wood bar and just let the beauty of the salvaged wood do the talking. It makes for a great layering piece that way!
I hope you love the new Lifestyle Line and see your style reflected in it! It's the perfect way to live in perfect imperfection! You can click HERE to shop our new collection and find what fits perfect for you or what would make a great gift for a friend!
Well it's June 1st, 2020... we can all agree that this year has been rough, but going into this summer it got even more difficult. I can't not acknowledge what's going on in our country right now. Summertime is always so light-hearted and fun, relaxing but also adventurous; it now feels very heavy and uncertain.
My heart breaks for all the hurt that people are experiencing right now, and so to share about my happy, summer signs feels very weird and off to me. I want you to know that I've had major analysis paralysis lately on just about everything. I never want to appear insensitive to what's currently going on, and at the same time I want to bring some happy in other's lives. That's just kind of how I am. I've endured some painful situations in my life and I can only feel sad for so long before I choose to take the positive path. Feelings can only get us so far before we have to place one foot in front of the other with action.
So what can I control right now? I can't control the health and well-being of everyone I know, but I can control my self-responsibility to others regarding taking certain health measures and precautions. I can't control other people's business struggles, but I can give generously, shop local, support and promote small businesses. I can't control evil people in the world, but I can always pray and show love to others with not just words but action.
I can have conversations with my children about how every human being is precious to God and that we treat everyone how we would want to be treated. We live in a fallen world, but I'm choosing to have hope. Because having hope might be the only thing I'll ever be able to control. So I'm going to list these summer signs, even in the midst of an environment that feels anything but happy. But I want to share some hope with you, all while I know how it's received is out of my control. My hope is that it might brighten your day, and you give a bit of hope as well.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
-Martin Luther King, Jr.
"One day there'll be no more lives taken too soon.
One day there'll be no more need for a hospital room.
One day every tear that falls will be wiped by His hand.
We will see the promised land.
Hallelujah, there will be healing
From this heartbreak we've been feeling.
We'll sing in the darkest night
'Cause we know that the light will come.
And there will be healing, hallelujah.
One day there'll be no more anger left in our eyes.
One day the color of our skin won't cause a divide.
One day we'll be family standing hand in hand
And we will see the promised land, we will see the promised land.
Hallelujah, there will be healing
From this heartbreak we've been feeling.
We'll sing in the darkest night
'Cause we know that the light will come.
And there will be healing, hallelujah.
I believe there will be healing, hallelujah"

A bit of cheer to brighten up your home as we gladly welcome warmer weather, green grass, sunshine, and flowers!
I'll be listing these signs Wednesday, March 25th at 7:00 PM (Central Time)...
Here are some previews of what you can expect!
I wasn't going to list these signs...
As I write this blog post, our country is dealing with the Coronavirus. It seems like no one really knows what's going on, what to do, and what the future holds. Many of us moms are working at home while homeschooling our kids, trying to keep life as normal as possible.
Major events are canceled, businesses are closed, and hospitals are bracing for a flood of cases to treat... very nerve-wracking and unsettling times to say the least. We're supposed to social-distance from each other, but it's so counter-intuitive for us during a time of crisis when we really want to come together.
So, while I wasn't going to list these signs because I didn't want to seem insensitive to what's happening in our world, I decided to move forward as planned before all the craziness erupted. And I'm doing this because I want to come together to support small businesses and our economy. I'm blessed to have an online shop where I can still offer you some happy mail and retail therapy during this trying time. Since I don't have a physical store door to shut, I want to keep mine open in order to then pay it forward to another small business that does have a physical door that's temporarily closed.
It's my way to contribute to getting our country back on track... and spring will come!!! (literally and figuratively).
Where flowers bloom, so does hope and I want to give you hope and encouragement. I also want to send you a bit of cheer to brighten up your home as we gladly welcome warmer weather, green grass, sunshine, and flowers!
I'll be listing these signs Wednesday, March 25th at 7:00 PM (Central Time)...
Here are some previews below of what you can expect!
I must have flowers, always, and always
Claude MonetYou already know, I LOVE flowers!!!! Especially wildflowers! So my spring signs, of course, had to include sketches of flowers! I think together with the reclaimed wood frames these are stunning pieces of art for your home.
Cherish the details! I love the little things... the little details are what make these frames unique and so special. The chipped paint, the history... just so much dang character in each and every frame. I've been holding on to this vintage trim with flowers on it for a few years now because I wanted the perfect spring sign for it! I believe these are it! I hand-lettered "Live life in full bloom" and put it together with the salvaged wood frame to make it a complete one-of-a-kind piece for your home.
And with my favorite season comes my favorite holiday... Easter!!! I love to celebrate my savior Jesus Christ reclaiming me as his own by giving his life to pay for my sins. One of my favorite songs is "My Living Hope" by Phil Wickam because in it he explains the gospel. So I knew I wanted to hand-letter those lyrics to be both an Easter sign as well as a sign for your home all year as a reminder to us.
I also wanted to make a sweet and simple sign "I am reclaimed" because it's a statement for us that relates to when Jesus said, "It is finished"... He bought us back at that moment. He reclaimed us, let us never forget that.
I'll also have more of your favorite statement pieces! Including my largest sign "Bring attention to the now. Savor the simple. Cherish the details. Breathe the lovely. And live fully thankful." It measures 22" x 28".
And NEW every day sign designs! Some with lettering that's slightly distressed to give it even more character!
I think these will be new favorites for sure!
And let's remember during this time "don't dig up in doubt, what you planted in faith"
Don't doubt that God isn't good during this challenging time... he's in control and we need to keep our faith as we trust in Him! Let us laugh without fear of the future!
I hope you love these spring signs friend! Please hop on over to Instagram and let me know what you think!

If you’re looking for the most unique cake stand that no one else has you’ll LOVE this DIY! I want to teach you step-by-step how to make the most unique farmhouse cake stand for your next birthday party, baby shower, or wedding! And I want to teach you this because I want you to get showered with compliments from your friends and family… and I guarantee it will happen!
They’ll first inquire where on earth you got this amazing one-of-a-kind cake stand because they’ve never seen one like it before (because they don’t exist ;) and then their jaw will drop when you tell them that
1. It’s made from a salvaged porch column
2. That YOU made it!
I’m all about repurposing something old into something new and functional for my home. When I kept coming across porch post bases and pillar capitals at salvage mills I thought there had to be some sort of easy DIY a gal could do using them.
P.S. They're one of my favorite things to find at vintage markets! To see other items on my favorites list be sure to download my free checklist HERE - My 50 Favorite Flea Market Finds- Download it, print it off, and take it with you next time you out junkin'!
Enter the MOST unique cake stand you could imagine! It’s no doubt a show stopper and would make an incredible centerpiece display at your next party! Or rustic wedding… or farmhouse baby shower… or vintage chic birthday party… you get the idea!
And you’ll be shocked with how easy it is to make!
Here are the supplies you’ll need:
- Salvaged Porch Post Base (also called a pillar capital)
(to find one check out my post HERE where I share the 7 Best Places to Find Architectural Salvage)
- Paint or Stain
- Drill
- Drill Bits
- Screws
- Wood Filler
- Sanding Block
Step 1: Stain the bottom of your wood panel. You can paint or stain your panel. It's completely your preference! But whichever one you decide to do, it's much easier to do it now versus after you attach it to the pillar capital.
Step 2: Flip the panel over (stained side down on top of the post base). Take your tape measure and measure each side to make sure that it's evenly spaced on top of the base.
Step 3: Drill your pilot hole where you’ll be attaching the panel to the porch base.* You’ll be drilling through both the panel and the base (about as far down as the length of the screw you’re using). We do this step to prevent the wood from splitting and it makes it easier for us to drive the screw in as well.
*you want to use a drill bit that's slightly smaller than the body of the screw.
If you're new to using a drill you may want to check out my video HERE where I teach you the basics of using a drill- perfect for beginners!
Step 4: Where our pilot holes have been drilled, we're going to use a larger drill bit (the size of the screw head that we're using) and drill a bit down into that wood, about a ¼” inch or so) so then when we drive the screws in, they will be sunk into the wood panel and hidden. That's what's known as countersinking a screw.
Step 5: Time to drive your screws through! Make sure to drive them down into the panel so they’re hidden!
Step 6: Use a wood filler to fill up those holes. If you're painting your panel round, it does not matter what type of wood filler you use, but since I like to stain the top, I made sure that the wood filler I used was a stainable kind. Use a putty knife now to push that wood filler in the holes and scrape the top off, so it's even with the wood.
Step 7: Once the wood filler is dry, use a sanding block to sand off the excess on the top to make sure that the top of the cake stand is nice and smooth.
Step 8: The last step is to stain or paint the top of our round. That’s it!
For food safety, make sure to use a piece of parchment paper between the food being served and the cake stand.
It helps to watch the steps in my video at the top of the page. And always feel free to comment if you have any questions because I’m here to help!
Be sure to subscribe to my channel because every week I release new videos on how to build with and use reclaimed materials in your home!
You love anything weathered, rusty and worn. Chippy paint and patina make your heart pitter-patter. Reclaimed wood and repurposed furniture beat anything shiny and new. I’m going to tell you the best 7 places you can buy architectural salvage and antiques no matter where you live!
It helps that I have a professional “junker” for a mother-in-law. She buys, repurposes, and resells vintage pieces for a living so I’ve been given the insider scoop on where to find these treasures. And since treasure is what you’re looking for, you can consider it a treasure hunt. You never know what you’ll find in these places but are guaranteed it’ll be something good!
And if you are new to adding repurposed pieces to your home, and are unsure what exactly to hunt for, and then what you could use it for, then I have just the gift for you! Click HERE to download my free checklist 50 Favorite Flea Market Finds for inspiration on what you can be on the lookout for. I’ll always be adding new blog posts and videos to highlight an item on that list!
I love searching for the exact antique or vintage item I’m looking for from the comfort of my couch and having it land on my doorstep a few days later…. God bless the internet! Because of this modern-day convenience, you can find amazing architectural salvage and antique treasures for your home no matter where you live! I’ve listed a few online places that I love searching below, but remember the online world is endless and google is your friend!
Etsy and Online Shops
Treat Etsy like google and simply search for exactly what you’re looking for! It has lead me to find a few shops that consistently sell vintage pieces. I also wanted to share with you some online shops that curate more luxury antiques so that you can see a whole range of options when it comes to finding vintage pieces for your home.
I’m a total fan of these emerging shops that take place on Instagram. Sometimes they’ll have auctions or flash sales and sometimes you simply shop their feed. Please note: these types of flash sales can be very popular and you have to be ready to buy! These shops will announce when they’re going to list the items and then you have to be the first to say SOLD! It’s a lot of fun!
Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and Ebay
And of course, you can search these places for what you’re looking for. These types of online places will be less consistent in what you find, but they’ll also usually be a better price.

I’m listing my 4 favorites below but you should google “architectural salvage yards near me” and see what’s available locally to you!
If you’re in Kansas looking for antiques, you have to stop by and see Oggie and Dennis and because they have ev-er-y-thing! They’ve been collecting for years and have even been featured on the show Pickers. They have an antique shop in town but you have to go down the road to check out their mill if you’re looking for bigger items and amazing architectural salvage. They have absolutely everything you could imagine there and it’s all incredibly organized. They’re open every Saturday rain, shine, or snow! I know this because I’ve shopped there a few times in the snow and it was still totally worth it!
As I’m writing this post I haven’t visited this warehouse in person, but I plan to this year! I’ve been following their Etsy page and Instagram account for a while now and drool over everything they find! And they find a TON of farm primitives, antiques, and collectibles.
Tina and her husband are another favorite duo of mine who are full-time antiquers. They have a few barns full of repurposed furniture and antiques and the cutest little shop on their property. Check out their Facebook page HERE to see just a glimpse of what they have to offer… that’s how I found them!
Darrin and Tyler are the go-to guys for reclaimed wood! They are the best, hands down, game over… you have to check them out if you’re looking for repurposed wood! They take down barns and old houses that were going to be demolished. They remove the nails, organize it neatly in their shop, and load your truck for you. Ok, seriously… how fun are flea markets these days?! Most of them now are huge events with food trucks, live music and of course shopping. It’s totally my idea of a girl’s day out! Grab your french-style market bag, put on your skinny jeans with booties, gather your girlfriends and make a day out of shopping these vintage markets! Heck, go one step further and make it a girl’s road trip because there are some a-maz-ing markets to shop that would be worth the drive! I have so many favorites that I can’t list them all but wanted to share these 5 with you...
The Marburger Farm Antique Show- Round Top, Texas
The mother of them all… this is the flea market of all flea markets. It takes place in Round Top, Texas and lasts for dayyyyys because you need days to see all that there is. If you can’t find what you’re looking for in Round Top, it doesn’t exist. You’ll definitely want to print off and bring your checklist 50 Favorite Flea Market Finds with you; there’s SO much there it could be difficult to focus because you’ll want it all.
The Found Cottage Mercantile Market- Holland, MI
If you don’t know Liz Marie Galvan you must be living under a rock. She probably has the best taste in shopping for antiques of anyone… we’re talking Joanna Gaines level. She owns The Found Cottage in Michigan where vintage goods are sold but she also puts on her own vintage market which is 100% on my bucket list to visit! She curates vendors just as well as she curates pieces for her home so you know it’s good!
Just about every state has one! Once, twice, sometimes three times a year this market will pop up near you with hundreds of carefully selected vendors. They’ll have live music and food trucks and I personally know it’s a blast because I’ve been a vendor before! I sold my vintage framed signs at Spring Vintage Market Days Kansas City and you can read about it in this post HERE.
Vintage Pickin’- Alabama and South Carolina
My friend April puts on this amazing market where she also selectively curates the best vendors around. If you follow April on Instagram you know how fun she is and you can imagine how fun her market is too!
First Fridays- Kansas City, Missouri
While the other markets I mentioned happen annually or semi-annually, First Fridays in Kansas City, Missouri occurs every month! The weekend of the first Friday of the month, multiple stores located in the historic west bottoms of Kansas City, open with hundreds of vendors selling everything you can imagine in their curated and styled booths. My mother-in-law Kathy and her sister Jo have spaces there in Good JuJu so stop by and check them out! You’ll find unique pieces for your home that no one else will have.
If you want to find antiques for the best possible price, you need to go where the junkers and the pickers go… and that is auctions. Don’t be intimated that it’s hard to understand the auctioneer; you’ll get the hang of it I promise. You’ll also get addicted because it’s sooooo much fun! You might be surprised at how competitive you might get! My tip: know what you’re looking for and know the maximum price you’d pay for it. Because when you start bidding against someone you might be tempted to just “win” the item to beat the other bidder… not that I know that from experience or anything.
These are other places that they junkers shop. Check your newspaper for what sales are happening near you!
I love that anyone can have their own little store in this way. So many people are selling their collected and found treasures in their own curated and styled space. These spaces are often similar to those set up at flea markets but are open year-round!
Oh goodness, what you can find at thrift stores! They’re hit and miss in my opinion so I don’t shop them often, but no doubt that will be where you’ll find the best price! It’s worth making a quick run-through one to see if they have what you’re looking for.
I hope this list has you excited to shop and search for unique treasures for your home! Now that you know where you can find them, start thinking about what you’d like to look for!

Hi, my name is Lindsey. Welcome to Weathered Wood Home!
This is a place where you can learn how to build with and use reclaimed materials in your home to help give it more character and rustic style while making it unique to you.
I live in the flint hills of Kansas and have access to many antique shops and salvage mills, which is such a blessing since I love anything chippy or rusty, weathered and rustic.
I’ve learned over the years how to repurpose something salvaged into a new and functional piece for my home.
Maybe you’d like to add some vintage pieces to your home but aren’t sure where to find them and then what exactly you could use them for. Or you’d love to DIY but find tools intimidating.
I felt that exact way once; which is why I’m so passionate to teach you what I’ve learned and show you simple projects you can do too! You can read more HERE about why I love teaching you what I know.
I’ll teach you at a beginner level how to use those power tools for fun DIY projects. I’ve built almost every piece of furniture in my home and many pieces for friends. And while I’ve been wood-working for over six years, I remember what it was like to be a beginner. You can read about how I got started with wood-working HERE.
I’ll also give you tips and advice on where to find antique pieces while giving you inspiration on what you can use them for. Gone are the days where antiques sit behind the glass of a cabinet collecting dust. I’m excited to share with you ways you can build with and use vintage items in a functional way.
I even made a free guide for you to download that lists my 50 Favorite Flea Market Finds.
And twice a month I write about how to use an item from that list on my blog Weathered Wood Home.
I also share little snapshots of our life here in the flint hills of Kansas because I believe more and more people are craving the country life that I’m blessed to be a part of.

I know you appreciate unique decor that serves a function as much as I do. You need things in your home to have its place; to be put away in its spot or hung up where it needs to go. Coats, towels, backpacks, purses, keys… oh my, there are so many items that need to be hung up in our homes.
Why not get creative with what we hang those pieces on? After all, it’s a double win when you combine style with function! You love repurposed architectural salvage… the history, the character, all that chippy paint goodness!
In this post, you’ll learn how to repurpose an architectural salvaged door into a towel rack with this simple and easy DIY project! It’s the perfect upcycled project for you if you’re a beginner who loves using reclaimed wood and wants to add shabby-chic style to their home.
When we first moved into our home, I was obsessive about everything having its place. I wanted there to be a coat rack when you entered our home so you knew where to hang up your jacket. I wanted there to be a hanging rack for backpacks in our “command center” (that’s what I call the spot in our house where backpacks, mail, purses, etc are unloaded). And I obviously needed towel racks for our bathrooms to hang up towels.
But the problem I faced was that I didn’t want to use a builder grade rack, or one that came from a big box store like everyone else was using. Just because something is primarily needed for function in our home doesn’t mean it can’t be unique and interesting right? I know you agree! You want every inch of your home to be unique like you.
You’ll Need:
Here are some links to find what I used for this project.
Farmhouse hooks- click HERE
Drill with battery- click HERE
Trim screws- click HERE
To find a repurposed door panel, read this post HERE about my tips on where to find architectural salvage.
1. Decide where you want to hang your hooks on the panel and mark them with a pen
2. While holding the hook in place, use your drill to screw your hook into the panel. (click HERE to learn how to use a drill)
3. Attach the panel to your wall by drilling into a stud with a trim screw*
*A trim screw has a small head that’s meant to finish flush with the surface. It hides very well making it less noticeable.
I told you it was easy! But it does help to watch the How-To video I have above. Check it out and then tell me in the comments if you liked this DIY project idea!

Power tools can be intimidating for beginners.
You question where to even start, you worry about using the tool correctly, and you especially want to be safe!
I understand all of these feelings because I was once a beginner too. I very much remember what it was like picking up a tool and wanting to give it up before even trying it out. You can read more about how I got started wood-working in a post HERE .
But I promise when you learn the basics and follow a simple introductory guide, you’ll find it’s much easier than you first thought.
Here’s a simple how-to guide all about power drills: what they’re used for, how they work, which one you need, and more!
The power drill was the first tool I ever owned. Matt bought it for me for Christmas and I remember feeling so excited that it was all mine. I had been wanting a few basic tools for simple, around-the-house projects and I was sick of borrowing his. His tools were always dirty and covered in grease and I would have to search all around his shop to find where he had placed them last. So I wanted my own toolbox… girls only… just for me.
And I remember the pride that came from using that drill for the first time. I promise you it’s SO easy to use that I feel almost silly explaining it to you. But I certainly didn’t realize how easy it was until after I learned! You don’t know until you know right? Simple things like being able to hang a sign or photo on the wall become big deals when you can do it yourself without waiting on someone else to help!
You can read this post HERE to find out why I’m so passionate about DIY projects.
So enjoy this simple beginner guide about my first, easiest, and most used tool… the power drill.
A drill is used for drilling and driving.
*You can also use an impact driver to drill and drive; especially if you’re like Tim the Tool Man Taylor and want more power (argh! argh! argh!) because simply put, it’s a more powerful driver. When you need to drive larger screws into thicker material, you’ll need an impact driver. I’ll explain more about impact drivers in a later post but I wanted to mention them because they look similar to drills and I can see how a beginner would get the two confused. Always double check when you’re buying your first drill that it’s not an impact driver.
So let’s first breakdown the parts of the drill.
Ok, let’s talk about volts… meaning power. You’ll see drills that have a range of volts but I’m going to recommend you buy one that’s 18V because that will serve most of your needs for household projects. 4-8 volts is too light in power and 20-24 is pretty powerful… 12-18 volts will be just right.
And like I mentioned earlier, buy a cordless one. It’s much more versatile.
TIP: you might want to ask your husband what cordless tools he has before purchasing your own because if you buy the same brand, you both can share batteries :)
Now that I have you so excited to buy your own tool, where should you buy your drill? The answer is any local hardware store you want or online.
Keep in mind that different hardware stores carry different brands! So if you’re looking for a certain brand make sure your store carries it before driving an hour to buy it (speaking to my fellow friends living in the country).
Click HERE if you’d like to check out the drill I use. It’s on amazon and you can easily add it to your cart along with your niece’s birthday present and paper towels :)
Since the link above is for drill without a battery you may want to click HERE to purchase that if needed.
And if you’re interested in a complete kit with a drill, an impact driver, two batteries, and a carrying case then click HERE . It’s by far the best value when just getting started from scratch.
So I know that explaining in text form about how to use a drill isn’t exactly the most thrilling thing to read. In fact, if you read all of this post then bless you, friend… you are probably going to be an incredible wood-worker with impeccable attention to detail!
But if you found this hard to follow but still want to learn how to use a drill, then please watch the video at the top of the page! Then let me know in the comments after the video what drill you use or plan to use!
And if you’re ready to start an easy beginner project with your drill be sure to check out THIS POST where I show you how to make a hanging rack for coats, towels, backpacks, whatever you may need with a salvaged door panel!
The reason I started this business and why it’s so important to me stems from my passion for making a house a home. It sounds so cliche, but I promise you I’m not meaning it in a light way. To read the full story about the impact a home can have click HERE. That post explains my story, but I want to talk about your story.
What do you want your home to say about you? Would your style reflect you? Would it look like you, smell like you, feel like you?
I’m pretty sure if you walked into my home you’d get a sense of who I am. I don’t wear a whole lot of color and my home decor is mostly neutral. I love wildflowers and unfussy decor so when you visit during the summer you’ll find a mason jar filled with wildflowers we picked along the gravel road. I always burn the same cozy candle that smells like apple cider on the first chilly day in fall. My feet are always cold so I have soft, cozy throw blankets in every room. Do you see where I’m going with this?
I’m not focused on style and home decor when it comes to how I want my home to feel. Sure those things are important… no doubt you can tell I love chippy paint and architectural salvage in my home, but more than that you can tell that I love pieces with character and history. You can tell that I don’t follow trends and appreciate uniqueness. You can tell I embrace the perfectly imperfect.
My passion for wood-working, leaving behind a piece of myself and helping others bring a unique piece into their home lead me to make my vintage framed signs. Now my “why” has grown into more. I feel so inspired to share and teach you how you can create your own unique home. Whether it’s through home decor, repurposing projects, or learning how to DIY, I’m so passionate about helping you step out of the unwillable rat race of following trends.
I want to help you find your style and what reflects you.
Have you ever experienced such a pivotal moment in your life where you know from then on nothing will be the same? I’ve experienced that moment… and even in the midst of tragedy, it changed me for the better and I was given new eyes to see. Here’s my story…
It was summertime and the kids and I had a great day with my mom in Emporia. We came home that night, and I tucked Riley and Madison into bed. Matt’s phone rang and when I overheard him talking I could immediately tell something bad had happened.
He was pacing like he normally does when talking on the phone, but this time he kept pausing and looking at me with a sort of dread on his face. When he got off the phone, he just paused and then said: “I guess Rael and Bogie were on their way to Branson and got in a car accident.” He said it in a way that made me first think they were in the hospital and badly hurt.
He then said, “They died.” And there it was. The heaviest and most unexpected sentence I’ve heard so far in my life.
Rael and Bogie were my aunt and uncle, and they’ll never know how much I loved them. I’m not a very emotional person and I often keep strong feelings and experiences to myself. So I’ve really never expressed how much they meant to me. And at that moment, I had never lost anyone so close to me before… especially more than one person at the same time and in a sudden and tragic way.
I cried every night for hours leading up to their funeral. And when the day came for us to say goodbye, I felt exhausted feeling sad. I’m a very happy person and the weight of grief was too heavy for me, so I decided to do what most people in my family do and I pushed it aside. I knew they were in Heaven and that gave me peace to know I’d see them again. I actually felt a bit better once we left the visitation, or at least that’s what I was telling myself I guess. But after the visitation, we went back to their home…
And the grief came over me again once I realized I was also saying goodbye to their home as well. Since they were both gone, no one would be in their home anymore. Their home, which I had so many fond memories in, was also going to be gone from me as well.
It made me wonder why I was also attached to their home? After all, it was them that I missed, not a wood structure. But they were present and reflected all over their home. They didn’t have random decor from Target or Hobby Lobby hanging on their walls… they had my aunt’s paintings. They didn’t have decorative or trendy items on their shelves… they had photos of all their loved ones. They had so many photos of friends and family in their home, and I felt so loved going there and seeing a picture of me in their home. They didn’t have junky furniture, they had handbuilt pieces my uncle had made. Their hands and heart were present in every corner. In that pivotal moment, I realized the power the feeling of home has.
We were getting ready to move into a new home at the time, and I decided at that moment that I would not decorate my home according to trends. I decided I would try to have as many pieces of me that I could in my house. I wanted part of me to be left behind for my loved ones when I go to Heaven someday. I wanted to create something my loved ones could hold on to and feel my work and my heart… something they could feel me in.
But I didn’t know what that something would be. I didn’t really have a hobby or passion or something I was particularly good at. So I thought, in honoring my aunt, that I would try painting. Well… I painted one picture, and to my surprise, I wasn’t connecting with it. Have you ever pursued a hobby or interest that you were just sure you’d love? It just looked like it’d fit you perfectly? I thought that’s what painting would be for me, but God had other plans.
So in trying to honor my uncle, I decided I’d give wood-working a shot. We needed furniture for our new home anyway. I thought I’d surprise Matt by making a coffee table all by myself while honoring my uncle’s talent at the same time. I really thought it’d be a one-and-done project. But the feeling I had while making that table was indescribable.
I felt like I was in a meditative state in a way because the hours I spent making the table flew by! And I couldn’t stop! I remember it was hot outside, the kids needed to be fed, and yet I couldn’t be pulled away. Following that building plan just came easy to me; easier than cooking, easier than gardening, easier than making a simple craft with my 4-year-old. It just clicked.
And I’ll never forget the pride I felt bringing that coffee table into my home. I’ll never forget the look on Matt’s face when he saw what I made. I’ll never forget everyone’s look on their face when they saw what I’d made! No one would ever picture me as a wood-worker.
And yet here I am, several years later, countless handbuilt pieces later, even more happy with wood-working. It was instantly my passion. I was hooked to something I could never see myself enjoying before. I get downright emotional even sharing it with you! I can’t express how much I love it, how empowered it’s made me feel, and the confidence I’ve gained!
I discovered my passion because of a tragic time in my life. Would I give it all up for even one day with my aunt and uncle? I would give it all up for even one hour with them. But I know when they greet me at the gates of Heaven, I’ll tell my uncle with tears of joy that his passion moved on to me.
Let’s talk about New Year’s resolutions. I know you… while drinking your coffee New Year’s Eve morning you think about what worked, what you would have changed, the struggles, and the surprise blessings. You may even go a step further and pull out your phone to go back through pictures from the previous year; it punches you in the gut how much the kids have changed. How time flies… you promise yourself that you’ll be more intentional this coming year.
I did that same thing. I thought about all the blessings that 2019 brought and the biggest unexpected surprise that happened to me. You can read more about that in this post HERE.
I also thought about changes for the next year and what I would like to do differently. Here’s what I arrived at...
But when I thought about what I wanted for the future of Weathered Wood Home… it wasn’t about signs. It honestly never was either.
It started with me pursuing my creativity and passion, lead me to you and your home in which I get to be a part of, and now has lead me back to sharing and teaching my passion with you!
I’ve realized that what comes naturally to me with wood-working is not the case for most everyone I meet. And I want to change that!
Until now, I’ve only shared with you the signs that I’ve made. I’ve stayed pretty private; I haven’t shared too many behind-the-scenes and I’ve downplayed my experience with building. But shame on me for not including you more in the process! I could have been helping you learn the same tips, tricks, and techniques that I’ve learned over the years. I could have been inspiring you and teaching you my passion that could turn into your passion!
So while I’ll still be hunting for reclaimed wood to make my vintage framed signs, I’ll be exploring a new creative journey as well. I’ll be blogging here every week and posting How-To videos on YouTube teaching you everything I know about using tools, DIY projects, finding architectural salvage and antiques, showing you how you can turn those vintage pieces into functional items in your home, and so.much.more!
I have felt held back before because I’m still learning too. I wondered "who am I to teach?" But here’s the deal, even if I’m only one step ahead of you, how fun will this be to go on this journey together?! Being able to inspire you and then see you gain the confidence and pride I got when I first learned these techniques… priceless!!!
This new creative outlet will be more fulfilling for me than I can even explain. I’m so excited to share with you all my tips, tricks, lessons, and secrets!
I’m excited to work with you to Reclaim Your Home!!!
Do you set aside time at the beginning of each year to reflect? I’m sure you do! I’ve looked back on 2019 and can do nothing but smile. But there’s one thing (well 3 things if we’re being technical) that happened and it gives me chills thinking about it! Let me just say with my personal proof that when you write down goals they will happen!
I’ve heard before about the power of writing down your thoughts, goals, and dreams. I’m talking about putting pen to paper and just brainstorming ideas. It can feel silly writing down really big goals sometimes, but after you hear my story you might be encouraged to do so!
When I first started making my signs I thought a lot about who exactly it is that would want to buy them. In business and marketing, you often hear terms like “ideal customer avatar” or “dream client” and basically that’s just a profile in your head about who would want what you have to offer and how you would speak to that person when sharing about your product or brand.
I wrote down some characteristics about who I thought would like my signs. I thought she’d be a girl who enjoyed going to vintage markets, decorating with architectural salvage, loved chippy white everything and had a country style. What’s funny is my detailed description of my “person” mirrored myself completely. When I’m talking to you, I’m pretty much talking to me from 5 years ago.
Then I came across an Instagram account that immediately became my favorite. April, from @sweetkentuckyhollar, was 100% my ideal customer avatar. She fit the description I wrote down exactly! So I wrote her name on a piece of paper as the #1 person I would want to have one of my signs in her home.
Sometime after that, I got to thinking about the ideal “home” I could see my signs in. I found this photo on Pinterest and took a screenshot of it. A few months later I came across Jamie’s Instagram account @whitetailfarmhouse and there was that picture I had saved… it was her mudroom! So I wrote down Jamie’s name under April’s on my list because she had the #1 home I would want my signs to be in.
Now, I had been following along with Liz Marie Galvan’s blog for quite a while… of course, I’d dreamed of seeing my signs in her home but that was just too far-fetched for me to imagine. But one day I was listening to a marketing podcast and they said to write down your absolute dream client. I knew that was Liz Marie so I wrote down her name below Jamie’s. There were my top 3… those gals together encompassed who I imagined would connect with my signs, my brand, and me. My ideal customer is the trinity of the three of them.
Now, did I make it my goal to work with them… nope. I engaged with them on social media as I do with everyone I follow. I don’t follow or reach out to accounts for the purpose of gaining something for me; that’s not my character. I use social media to be social, not slimy.
So I had become friends with April a few months later and we were chatting back and forth. She told me that she was going to have her home photographed for Country Sampler’s Farmhouse Style Magazine and wondered if I might be able to make a sign for her dining room before the photoshoot. It took me all of 1 second to reply YES!!!!!!!!!!!! I was just beyond thrilled that she wanted one of my signs, let alone that it could possibly be pictured in a magazine. I couldn’t believe it; my ideal customer was going to have one of my signs in her home.
Then a few weeks later, I was chatting with Jamie and the conversation was pretty much the same as April’s. She was going to have her home photographed for Better Homes and Garden’s Farmhouse Christmas issue and you wouldn’t believe where she was hoping I could make a Christmas sign for… her mudroom! The exact photo I took a screenshot of months prior before even knowing Jamie. It gave me chills!!
And if it couldn’t get any crazier, that’s when I saw Liz Marie’s name come in on an order for two of my signs. My jaw dropped. My dream client had just bought two of my signs.
All of this happened within one month…
So a year goes by and I had actually forgotten that Country Sampler’s Farmhouse Style magazine featuring April’s home was coming out. That’s when I opened my inbox one day to find several emails asking about April’s sign they saw in the magazine. The sign must have been pictured if all these ladies were emailing me about it! I drove an hour away just to go to Wal-Mart to find the issue. I found the magazine, flipped to the page where my sign was pictured, and read the caption “made by her friend from Weathered Wood Home”... I just couldn’t believe it. I showed the lady browsing next to me. I said, “I made that!”
I bought 2 issues for me that day and one for my mom.
A few months later, the Better Homes and Garden’s Farmhouse Christmas issue came out. I drove to that same Wal-Mart again, once again told strangers all around me “that’s my sign!” and bought 3 issues for me and my mom.
I knew it was possible the signs might appear in those magazines, but I was already so crazy thankful just to have them in those gal’s homes who were now friends of mine.
What happened next was my biggest surprise in 2019…
I had already pre-ordered a copy of Liz Marie’s book Cozy White Cottage so I received it the day it came out. As I was scanning through her 100 ways to bring coziness into your home, I was stopped suddenly when I got to #64 on her list. There are page 147 of her book was a photo of my sign in her home. The sign that my dream client bought from me was in her book!
My sign… was in… a book!!!! What a dream!!!
Now I was probably the only person (besides you now having read this) who recognized it as my sign… but that’s more than alright with me!! I know that I have a book on my coffee table that has a photo of my sign in it. I know that there’s a book sold on Target shelves that has a photo of my sign in it. It’s a personal pride in my heart that I’m totally fine with just me knowing about.
So when I reflected on the business side of my 2019, I pulled out that crumpled piece of paper with those 3 names on it. I thanked God for not only making my goals a reality but far surpassing them by letting me see my work in print.
But honestly, as amazing and unexpected as that was for me, I get just as excited seeing my signs in your home! Because that’s a big deal to me that you choose to hang one of my signs on your limited wall space when you have so many options out there these days! For my signs to be treasured in your home and homes all over the country (and even some outside this country!) is a blessing I’ll never take for granted!

I know you're intentional about what you bring into your home; especially about what you choose to hang on your walls. Words are powerful and can make us feel a certain way. They can be statements about what our family believes and what we want to reflect in our home. They can be mantras for our life and reminders of how we want to live.
One reason I love the "Love grows best in little houses" quote (besides that it's from a 90's country song... did you know that??) is because the family that hangs that sign on their wall is stating that they love their little home; that they're proud of their little home; that while the rest of the world wants bigger homes they intentionally want a smaller one because they like the closeness it brings for their family.
They can be mantras for our lives. I know I can get caught up in the complexity of today's culture. It can seem like we're always rushing towards more, more, more when what we really need is more simplicity. That sign can be a simple reminder (pun intended) for us.
"These are the days"... a sign with that quote reminds us that we need to be living in the present. That the past is gone and the future is not guaranteed. It reminds us that we need to soak up these everyday moments we're given. Because the present time is just that... a gift.
"The most important work you'll ever do will be within the walls of your own home" is almost a necessity for any momma's home. Listen, friend, because I'm guilty of this as well, it's easy to overlook the little things we do for our families because they don't seem as important as outside tasks. I love how this quote pulls me back down to the reality of what truly matters at the end of the day.
I love how this welcoming quote lets everyone who enters your home know that they are welcomed with grace.
And speaking more of grace, this quote "live in grace, walk in love" reminds us to give grace and love to others just like we would want others to do the same for us.
Some signs like the one above can also serve as daily prayers we say each time we read it.
Or it can be something we say every time we walk through the door after being gone for a while.
They can reflect what we hope for our homes as well.
The quote above is exactly what I personally hope for my home. It's an original quote from a friend of mine and I wanted it to be offered in the largest size I could make because it's such a statement piece. This signature sign is 22"x28" and will be offered every month because it will forever be my favorite quote. It's definitely a statement piece both figuratively and literally.
These signs will be listed in my shop on December 9th, 2019 at 8:00 pm (central time) and my hope is that you'll find one (or many!) that are meaningful to you and would fit perfectly in your home.
Can you believe Christmas is right around the corner? Soon we'll be sipping hot chocolate while decorating our tree and I cannot wait to listen to all the classic Christmas songs!
And while we're talking about Christmas songs, let me tell you why I chose those lyrics for my large (22"x16") Christmas sign. I love snow and I love a white Christmas! I love cuddling up by the fireplace while it's bitterly cold outside. I could seriously watch snowfall all day! Now anyone in agriculture (my husband) would be rolling their eyes at me because they don't enjoy being outside in it. But I'm a stay-at-home mom and since I've no place to go I say let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
And I'm so excited about these cute little snowflake mini signs! How perfect for the chippy white frames! They are 11"x11" and they compliment the larger sized signs so well. You could definitely layer them in front of each other on your shelf or mantel!
And what I love MOST about these signs is that you can leave them up all winter!! The quotes and snowflakes work great as Christmas decor but also for the whole winter season. So you don't have to take them down in January or even February. Since they have chippy white frames, the neutral look works with everyone's home too. So keep that in mind if you're thinking of Christmas gifts! I don't think anyone would mind getting one of these cuties in their Secret Santa gift exchange!
I absolutely love this 16"x16" sign for winter! Because we all know the empty feeling our house has after taking down the Christmas decorations right? In a way, it feels a bit refreshing, but we feel like we should have some sort of seasonal decor in our home. So keeping evergreen garlands up and having this winter sign works perfectly for that.
And during the long winter days, I love that quote to remind me that every season is special and beautiful in its own way. Winter really is all about time at home.
And now for the Christmas signs!! I personally love decorating with the classic colors of red and green so I was over the moon happy when I found some reclaimed beadboard and trim with those colors! I've been saving that vintage wood for these Christmas signs for almost a year!
And since I try to create unique pieces that you can't find anywhere else, I decided to make a sign with a little known verse from my favorite Christmas song. We all know the lyrics to O Holy Night, but oftentimes the 3rd verse gets left out. Many people might even know there is the 3rd verse.
"Truly He taught us to love one another;
His law is Love and His gospel is Peace;
Chains shall he break, for the slave is our brother,
And in his name all oppression shall cease,
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we;
Let all within us praise his Holy name!"
I wanted to make a sign that had those words because I think they're so beautiful and meaningful for us today.
Those signs will available in an 11" x 22" size with frames of vintage green, red, chippy white, and chippy white with some red! There really will be something for everyone in this Christmas and Winter Collection! They'll be listed on November 18th, 2019 at 8:00 pm Central Time in the Vintage Framed Collection. Over 150 signs are made and ready to ship to your home just in time for you to decorate for the holidays!

I think during the holiday season that we all say "It's so good to be home"... so how perfect would it be to see those words in your entryway when you walk through your front door? I know as much as I love to travel, I love coming home and having that feeling that there is no better place to be.
I love having these mini reminders in my home of practicing gratitude. They help keep the focus on what's truly important during this time of year.
It can be easy when we're caught up in the day-to-day hustle of life to forget about how blessed we are. I love that we have the Thanksgiving holiday to slow down and think about all of the blessings in our life.
And we always need to remember where those blessings come from. We can thank God every day of the year for all he's blessed us with, not just during the Thanksgiving holiday.
If you add one of these unique signs to your home this Thanksgiving I would love to see you tag me on Instagram @weatheredwoodhome. I'm so thankful for each of you who support this little handmade business of mine!
